Please read through this guide, i will explain everything you need to know and the questions i get asked daily in thorough detail. If you have any other questions, please feel free to be in touch via email or through facebook or instagram on the page 'CONTACT'
This guide acts as a pre consultation before meeting me in pers
on.

WHAT IS SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Semi Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing where by the pigments are implanted into the skin using a machine, similar to a conventional tattoo machine. Semi permanent makeup is Micro pigmentation which we use a whipping/shading motion very superficially to create tiny pixels to create soft and natural looking  eyebrows, lips and eyeliner enhancements.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICRO BLADING AND MICRO PIGMENTATION?
There is a lot of confusion regarding the difference between these two methods. Essentially they are both methods of implanting pigment into the skin but micro blading uses a manual hand tool similar to a tiny scalpel. SPMU on the other hand is implanting the pigment into the skin with a machine, similar to a conventional tattoo machine.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
SPMU can last up to 3 years, however a top up of your makeup tattoo is recommended every 12 months
in order to keep your permanent makeup looking fresh.

DOES IT HURT?
A highly effective medical grade anaesthetic cream is used for numbing before and during the procedure. Pain threshold levels differ from person to person. I always make a conscious effort to make sure clients are comfortable for the entirety of the appointment. If you suffer from fibromyalgia, please be aware that this may affect your sesnitivity and tolerance to the procedure. If you are a smoker, the topical anaesthetic may wear off slightly quicker to a non smoker.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL TATTOOS AND COSMETIC TATTOOS?
Cosmetic tattooing is offered to enhance a clients natural features. It is softer, more subtle and natural looking. We implant pigment into the skin superficially, whilst Traditional tattoos implant ink into the skin to the deeper layers. Cosmetic tattooing pigments are designed to gently fade over time, this is down to allowing the artist to make changes over the years to colour, shape, trends and natural facial changes.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
I will always book a 2-3 hour appointment for everyones initial procedure. I want to make sure we are both on the same page regarding your choice of brow colour, shape, expectations, realistic goals, and aftercare so that is a huge part of the treatment service. Once we have all of that in place and forms have been read through and signed we can get cracking! First i will numb you. Once you are numb, i will map your brows against your facial features and pre draw your brows with a pencil into a shape that will best enhance what you already have.  Then we will pick out and even mix the desired shade to suit your eye colour, skin tone, and hair colour. Once we have both agreed on a shape and shade of colour to suit you we can then start!

WILL I STILL NEED TO TWEEZE WAX MY EYEBROWS?
Yes your hair will still continue to grow and i always advise to keep them maintained as a quick eyebrow wax and tidy up with your technician will keep those eyebrows looking immaculate. Your brow maintenance will be a lot easier.

WILL I STILL NEED TO APPLY EYEBROW MAKEUP?
Not necessarily, but SPMU is not no maintenance, You will wake up every morning with your eyebrows on! However, Please bear in mind that your SPMU eyebrows aren't going to look bold and harsh. For my clients who wear little to no makeup you won't want to do anything at all. For clients who wear a heavy/full face on the daily or clients who are going out for day drinks with the girls, you may want to add some brow gel through the hairs to style them. Please note if you are wearing makeup, make sure you either avoid your brows with foundation or use a damp cotton bud to clean the brow area.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?
Everyones skin is different so healing varies from person to person. It can be a hard process for some. Micro pigmentation heals about 40-50% lighter than the initial procedure. Generally, the results are excellent but it very much depends on your skin texture, skin type, oiliness and aftercare. There are may factors that can affect your healing process.
You and your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing process...
1. Firstly, the pigment will appear darker and very sharp looking straight after the procedure. This is because the pigment is sitting on top of your skin and will settle. the pigment that is sat on top will eventually fall off naturally, trust the process.  Your brow area may be slightly red and a little tender.
2. Next, depending on your skin type you may find a little bit of lymph or pigment on a cotton pad or swab, this is normal. The pigment on the skin will eventually start flaking PLEASE DO NOT PICK, this is normal. The pigment implanted underneath the flaking, will soften gradually, some clients may feel like it has disappeared completely, but again please trust the process because the pigment will push itself forward. I tell all of my clients to keep your eyebrow area clean, dry and apply the aftercare lotion given.
3. I will tell you the aftercare and also give you a written copy for you to take home which you MUST follow as well as your aftercare lotion. 50% of your healed results is my technique and the other 50% is ON YOU!

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
Before your treatment:
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen before.
- Do not drink alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours before.
- Discontinue any Vitamin A and chemical exfoliation skin care products close to the area at least two weeks prior to your procedure as this can cause fading and distortion.
- No laser or electrolysis on or around the treatment area two weeks prior.
- Do not have any chemical peels, dermabrasion, mesotherapy or any intense facials. This can cause irritation and causes faster cell rejuvenation.
- No botox or fillers in the procedure area less than 2 weeks prior.
- If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do this at least 5 days before your appointment.

Suggestions and things to take into consideration before your appointment:
- Plan trips/events a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
- Limit the amount of caffeine you consume the morning of your appointment.
- It is HIGHLY important that you avoid sun and tanning bed exposure for 30 days before AND after the procedure.
- If you have a shape and colour in mind, please bring some photos with you as a guide for me.
- If you have existing cosmetic tattooing you will need to contact me BEFORE booking your appointment.

Please take into consideration all of the instructions given. Failing to do so could result in having your appointment cancelled on the day and a cancellation fee will still be charged.

Please be realistic with your eyebrows. Symmetry is always my goal but our faces aren't 100% perfectly symmetrical.
'Brows should never be cousins or distant relatives, but they're always sisters, never twins.
